Secure in God Not in Outcomes

I'm your host, Priscilla Allman, and I'm so happy you're here today. Today we're gonna lean into a truth that has the power to steady your heart in every season, especially the uncertain ones. Because if we're honest, many of us don't struggle with trusting God in theory. We struggle with trusting him when we're not sure how things are gonna turn out, which honestly is the whole point. We say we trust him, but sometimes we're still maybe a little bit anxious about the outcome. We pray, but we're still trying to control the result. We surrender, but only as long as things go the way we hoped. So today we're gonna have an honest conversation. What does it really look like to be secure in Him and not just secure in the outcomes? Security is where your heart finds its stability. It's the thing that when everything else feels uncertain, you cling to for peace and kind of certainty. For many of us, the security kind of comes from the outcomes, or at least the way we think the outcomes are gonna go. If this works out, I'll be okay. If I get this opportunity, I'll feel secure. If I get this relationship, or if it stays, if this door opens, if this plan succeeds, then I'll have peace. But what kind of happens when the outcome is delayed? Or it's so different than what you expected or planned for? Or what if it completely falls apart? If your security is in the outcome, then your peace is kind of fragile. And it will become fragile because things happen. But when your security is in God, your peace becomes anchored. Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Notice it doesn't say trust the outcome, it says trust the Lord. Part of why we attach our security to outcomes is because it feels like control. If we can just plan enough, prepare enough, do everything just right, then maybe we can guarantee the result. But the truth is, control is an illusion. We are not sovereign. God is. But if not, we do not serve your gods. That is powerful. They believed God could deliver them, but if their but their faith wasn't shaken even if he didn't. That is what it means to be secure in God and not in the outcomes. Now let's be clear: letting go of outcomes doesn't mean that you stop caring. It means you stop caring what was never yours to hold. You can pray boldly, prepare diligently, hope expectantly, and still release the outcome to God. Philippians 4, 6 to 7 says, be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Notice the exchange. You give him your requests, he gives you his peace. Not necessarily immediate answers, not guaranteed outcomes, but peace that guards your heart, that surpasses all understanding. When your security rests in God, something changes, it shifts. You're no longer constantly anxious about what if. You're anchored in even if. Not because you have certainty about the outcome, but because you have certainty about God. So today I want you to invite you to examine your heart. Where has your security been placed? Is your peace tied to something working out in a certain way? Or is it rooted in who God is? And if you've been holding tightly to an outcome, you don't have to force yourself to let it go all at once. Just begin by opening your hands and saying, God, I trust you more than I trust this outcome. You are always so good to me. If this spoke to your heart today, I want you to carry this truth with you. Your peace was never meant to depend on outcomes. It was always meant to rest in God. Stay anchored, stay trusting, stay grounded in Him. And I will see you soon in the next episode.
