Have you ever stepped into a season where you didn't know what was coming next? A decision you had to make, a transition you didn't see coming, a path that feels unclear, no matter how much you think about it. And in those moments, the question quietly rises, God, are you really with me in this? Today we're going to anchor ourselves in one powerful scripture, one verse that reminds us that even when the future feels uncertain, we're never walking in it alone. Welcome to Purpose of Heart, the podcast. I'm your host, Priscilla Allman, and today, this is we're gonna just have a space where we slow down, reflect on God's word, and find peace in the middle of real life. Some seasons feel steady and predictable, but others feel like standing on the edge of something unknown. A new opportunity, a life transition, a calling that feels way bigger than your comfort zone. And if we're honest, those moments can feel overwhelming. But today we're going to sit with a verse that speaks directly into those seasons. Deuteronomy 31, 8 says, And the Lord, he is the one who goes before you. Do not fear nor be dismayed. Let's take a moment to sit with that for a second. Because within this one verse, God gives us four promises. And this can completely change the way that we walk into the unknown. The first one, he goes before you. This verse begins with this powerful truth: the Lord goes before you. That means that before you ever step into a situation, God is already there. Before the conversation you're nervous about, before the opportunity you feel completely unprepared for, before the season that you didn't see coming, God has already gone ahead of you. There's something deeply comforting about the type of intention and preparation. Because it means that you're not trying to figure out everything on your own. God is already working in places you cannot yet see. He's preparing the way, he's aligning circumstances, he's making provision. Even when it feels like you're stepping into uncertainty, you're actually stepping into a place God has already entered. The verse continues, He will be with you. Not only does God go before you, He walks with you. This speaks to His presence. And sometimes what we need most is not immediate answers, but the assurance that we're not alone. Think about how often we try to carry things by ourselves. We try to figure it out. We try to hold it all together. We try to stay strong for everyone else. But God never asks us to walk alone. His presence is not distant. It is near. It is constant. It is steady. And when you begin to truly believe that God is with you, something shifts. You begin to walk with a different kind of peace. He will never leave you nor forsake you. This is a promise that speaks directly to one of our deepest fears. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Many people have experienced what it feels like to be let down, to be disappointed, to be left in difficult moments, to feel unsupported when they needed someone the most. And sometimes those experiences shape how we view God. But this verse reminds us that God is not like people. He does not walk away when things get hard. He does not withdraw when you struggle. He does not abandon you in the middle of the process. His presence is consistent. Even in the moments where you feel unsure, overwhelmed, or weary. Even when your faith feels small, even when your strength feels low, God remains. And then the verse ends with an instruction: do not fear nor be dismayed. Notice this is not a denial of fear, it's an invitation to release fear in the light of who God is. Fear often comes from uncertainty, from not knowing what's ahead, from wondering if we're prepared, from questioning how things will unfold. But when we remember God has gone before us, God is with us, God will not leave us, fear begins to lose its hold. It may not disappear instantly, but it no longer has the final say. When fear arises, remind yourself God has already gone before me. God is with me right now. God will never leave me. Sometimes you have to speak truth until your heart begins to believe it. Take the next step, not every step. Overwhelm often comes from trying to see the entire path. But God usually gives us just enough clarity for the next step. You usually don't need to have everything figured out. You just need to take the next step in faith. Stay rooted in his presence. Make space to pause, to reflect, to pray, to sit in God's word. Because the more aware you are of his presence, the less overwhelming life seems to feel. And he will not leave you as you move forward. The path may not be fully clear, but the one who goes with you, the one who leads you, is. Thank you for spending this time with me today on Purpose of Heart, the podcast.
